Swantje Lichtenstein lives and works in Cologne/Duesseldorf (Germany). She studied literature, phi-losophy and sociology in Tuebingen, Cologne und Bonn, received a PhD in German literature from the University of Cologne (D) and teaches since 2007 as Professor for literature, creative writing, media studies at the University of Applied Studies Duesseldorf (Germany). Her work, including poetry, essays and prose, has appeared in a number of magazines and anthologies. She is the author of the poetry collection figurenflecken oder: blinde verschickung, Aachen: Rimbaud 2006, Das lyrische Projekt, Muenchen: Iudicium 2004 and three forthcoming collections, which will be published in autumn 2009. She performed at several festivals and readings. Her work has been translated into English, Turkish and Romanian.
